Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), also known as consumer packaged goods (CPG), are products that are sold quickly and at a relatively low cost. Fast-moving consumer goods have high inventory turnover and are contrasted with specialty items which have lower sales and higher carrying charges. Many retailers only carry only FMCGs, particularly hypermarkets, big box stores, and warehouse club stores. Small convenience stores also stock fast-moving goods; the limited shelf space is filled with higher turnover items.

1. Garlic paste

Pile the chopped garlic on one side of the board. Tilt the knife at a 30-degree angle to the board and drag it over the garlic, scraping it across the surface of the board. Pile up the garlic again, sprinkle lightly with salt, and scrape again. Repeat once or twice until the garlic is a smooth paste.

Applications:

Use an ideal replacement for chopped garlic in any recipe by substituting 1-1.5 tsp for each garlic clove. Perfect for mashed potatoes, sautéed shrimp, meatballs and salad dressings. Blend with mayonnaise, lemon juice and salt for a delicious aioli spread for sandwiches.

 

2. Ginger Paste

Ginger paste sounds fancy, but it’s just fresh ginger root that’s been ground up and mixed with oil to form a paste. ginger paste is nothing but blended ginger with some oil or water. You can store it in the refrigerator or freezer and use it as your recipe calls for it.

Applications: 

Ginger paste is a fast, easy, convenient way to add a punch of spicy, sweet, warming flavor to anything from curries to stir-fries to desserts. One of my favorite uses is to use ginger paste for tea. To do so, simply use 1 teaspoon paste for every 1 teaspoon of minced or grated ginger called for in the recipe.

3. Ginger Garlic Paste

Ginger garlic paste recipe – Ginger garlic paste is one of the most basic essentials of Indian cooking. Apart from imparting a good aroma to the foods it also aids in digestion and tenderizes the meats. Traditionally most homes would make it fresh and use up the same day.

4. Tandoori Paste

Mix together salt, cayenne, coriander, chili powder, garlic powder, dry mustard, ginger, turmeric, fennel, cumin, and paprika in a food processor. Add lime juice and yogurt when ready to make a paste; store in refrigerator. You can use it as a rub or marinade.

Applications:

Tandoori Paste is mainly used on meat, usually chicken. Traditionally, meat cooked in a tandoor is marinated in a mixture of yogurt and spices.
